Heartfelt Community Retreat - From Grief to Grace
Description
From Grief to Grace
A Heartfelt Community Retreat
From Grief to Grace is a Heartfelt Community weekend retreat held within the peaceful and prayerful surroundings of the Benedictine Abbey.
This retreat offers a gentle space for anyone carrying grief or loss to step away from the demands of everyday life, slow down and simply be.
Through the prayer of the Church, the Psalms, the Eucharist, silence, nature, spiritual direction and the companionship of others, participants are invited to become more attentive to God’s consolation and the grace that may already be present.
At the heart of our weekend is a simple understanding:
Every moment carries a grace — even where you are right now.
This retreat is not about trying to remove grief, provide answers or suggest that grief is something we need to “move on” from. Rather, our hope is to gently accompany each person from grief towards grace — recognising that grace does not replace grief, but can meet us within it and help us carry what cannot simply be left behind.
The weekend will follow the natural rhythm of Benedictine life, with opportunities to join the Sisters for the Liturgy of the Hours, Holy Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, alongside spiritual reflection, spiritual direction and Heartfelt Community gatherings.
With the exception of our central retreat gatherings, Mass, prayer times, spiritual sessions and activities are offered as invitations rather than obligations. You are welcome to participate in what feels right for you.
Free time is intentionally woven throughout the weekend. You may choose to rest, pray, walk, journal, read, use the creative resources provided, spend time with others or simply enjoy the stillness.
This is a contemplative retreat, not a conference.
The quiet, the pauses and the spaces between activities are an important part of the retreat itself.
