CONCERT

The concert will feature unique original compositions from local composers and musicians, with a passion for world peace, global human rights and justice.

As a Palestinian musician, Antonio Aguilar inherits a long and rich history of music-making as an art form in his family. His mother is a pianist and music educator. His grandfather was an Oud and Qanun player who travelled the world with his band and performed traditional Arabic and fusion music. Antonio is proud to represent his people's resistance through music at this event. Hala Samak arrived from the Gaza war zone late last year and plays a variety of Gazan percussion instruments. Chloé Charody is an Australian composer whose operas, musicals, ballets and song cycles have toured Europe and Australia. This event will be the world premiere of her Violin Sonata For Peace. Maissa Alamaddine is a Lebanese-Australian singer and multidisciplinary artist working across a range of mediums, who explores the idea of migration as a chronic injury and uses her voice as a provocation and a response. Pavle Cajic is a pianist and composer of a classical background who has ventured into jazz and enjoys exploring music of different cultures through collaboration and improvisation as a way to learn about the many beautiful music-making practices throughout the world. They are passionate about using music as a vehicle to express the beautiful and tragic depth of our experience on this Earth. Keyna Wilkins is a pioneering Australian/British composer-musician. She was one of three finalists for the Australian Art Music Awards for Individual Excellence in 2021 and 2018 (APRA/AMCOS). Her woks are published by Wirripang and are performed internationally. Chloe Chung is a cross-cultural flutist, playing Western flute and dizi (Chinese bamboo flute), teaching music, and collaborating with others to foster unexpected musical forms and connections throughout Sydney. She has also recently completed a season performing with Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra Miss Saigon tour or Asia. Maxeem Georges is a Syrian oud player with a deep passion and knowledge of Maqam - the foundation of Arabic music scales. His music reflects a strong connection to the oud's rich history, preserving its traditional sounds while exploring its contemporary journey.
