Heat Proofing Your Home
Description
This workshop outlines ways to help cool a home in summer on a budget without aircon or spending a fortune, using clever garden and indoor design. The presenter, Rin, uses real life examples (with supporting data from thermal camera testing) implemented on her own home, including: paint colour selection for cooling, using furniture for insulation, the different effect of trees, gazebos and window awnings for shade, plus different blind style effectiveness.
About the presenter: Rin has qualifications in Conservation Biology, Environmental Science and Permaculture Design. She lives on a 1400m2 block with over 100 varieties of edible plants plus native plants, ponds, wicking beds, water collection and thermal management systems. Rin is passionate about equipping others with knowledge and skills to live a more sustainable life, and uses her own life and experiences to teach others.
