    Time: 1.00pm – 4.00 pm

VisComm Teachers will benefit from this half-day Professional Learning workshop that focuses on how to use Heide as a resource to support the new Visual Communication Design (VCD) Study Design.

Listen to influential designers come together at Heide to support an understanding of good design.

The workshop will include a site tour of Heide Modern with John Lee (Director, McGlashan Everist, Architects of the award-winning Heide Modern building) and exhibition tour of Surrealist Lee Miller with Michael Gibb (Head of Design and Communications, Heide, exhibition designer Surrealist Lee Miller) to illustrate how design solutions are co-created, and how design in museums addresses problems in sustainable and strategic ways.

Speakers Jacinta Patterson (Head of Learning Area for the Arts, Ivanhoe Grammar, author of VisComm, Cambridge University Press) and Dr. Kathryn Hendy-Ekers (Curriculum Manager, Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design and Media, VCAA) will discuss the new VCD Study Design, and how Heide can be used specifically by students for developing human-centred design practices.

This Professional Learning workshop addresses the following units of the VCE Visual Communication Study Design: Unit 1, Outcomes 1, 2 & 3 and Unit 3 Outcome 1.

Participants will be provided with resources, including sample student work for Unit 3, Outcome 1.
