From Perfectionism to Vulnerability - the freer we are, the happier we become

Emigrating from the UK 16 years ago, Heidi Broom built a 30-year executive-level career in the technology industry before relocating from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast in 2023. Surrounded by the lush interplay of beaches and bushland, she draws daily inspiration from the vibrant rhythms of the natural world. Through abstract painting, Heidi found both freedom and flow. A late in life AuDHD diagnosis has led her to a new place of self-love, whereby she pursues opportunities to share her story, in the hope that it will help others.

"My work documents my own personal, transformational journey... from perfectionism to vulnerability.

At the age of twelve, I was shamed out of the school art room and told I was “not creative” because I couldn’t draw an apple in a vase. For decades, I carried that belief. It wasn’t until 36 years later, after cycles of extreme burnout in high-pressure executive roles within the technology industry, that my body finally forced me to STOP. In that stillness, I could at last hear my soul’s true calling: to paint." - Heidi Broom

A lifelong lover of natural design and vibrant colour, Heidi began painting to de-stress from her over-functioning life and to attempt to bring joyful life and energy into her own home.
