Farmers Market Spotlight: Heirloom Beans
Description
Date: Thursday, July 23
Time: 6-8:30pm
Description:
Learn how versatile the humble bean can be! Packed with plant-based protein, fiber, and nutrients that support gut health and digestion, heirloom beans are as nourishing as they are flavorful. In this hands-on class, we'll source a variety of fresh and dried beans from Two Peas in a Pod Farm, a beloved family-owned and operated local farm and a staple at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market.
If you're intimidated by how to prepare dry beans, thought the term 'heirloom' only applied to tomatoes (or antiques...), or curious about the array of colorful legumes beyond green beans—we'd love to have you join us! We'll prepare and enjoy a protein and fiber-packed plant-based menu showcasing beans three ways.
On the menu:
Rustic Heirloom Bean Stew with Seasonal Vegetables
Summer Bean Salad
Creamy Bean Dip with Fresh Herbs
Capacity = 12
Registration closes 48 hours before class begins, as our chefs need time to shop and prep. We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies whenever possible. If a request cannot be accommodated for a particular class, we’ll contact you directly. For guests 21 and over, complimentary wine will be served during the seated dinner portion of class. Please do not bring outside alcohol; we ask that all guests consume responsibly.
