Event description

Wanna see some great bands at one of the best venues in the Inner West next Sunday?

Need to find out more about the upcoming vote for the referendum?

Come along to the Petersham Bowlo on Sunday 24th October and you can do both.

Local Correspondents is Eli Parker (bass/guitar), Hoagy Hayes (guitar/vocals), Sam Rodgers (bass/guitar/vocals) and Cian Foley (drums), and have been making some noise around the traps for the last year. They’ve graced the street stage of the Marrickville Music Festival in 2022, as well as Marrickville Bowlo, Red Rattler and the Petersham Bowlo in the latter half of this year. Local Correspondents draw from a wellspring of garage and indie rock/pop influences such as The Strokes, Tim Buckley, The Beatles and Mac Demarco.

Wig is a 4 piece band from the inner west of Sydney and with Aisha Nabhan (lead vocals), Hannah Cazar (bass), Miriam Sands (drums) and Evelyn Hayes (lead guitarist), this band packs a punch. Though officially formed in January of 2023, Wig have been playing their mix of pop and punk since first playing music together while at high school in 2014, and have since played venues such as the Townie and Moshpit.

Awa Mbaye (Uh-wuh Mmm-bye), from Eora/Sydney survives on a diet of pubs and playlists soundtracking a world on fire. Her musical mission is to paint a place where both her and her listeners feel empowered to finesse their own identity rather than have it decided for them. Curating a bouquet of dance, rnb, indie and alt pop Awa Mbaye’s sonic direction hooks you with an unexpected focus. Navigating themes of selfhood, self-love and a revivified social contract, Awa is here, on her own terms, with a voice that will do anything but stay quiet. Awa will be performing with her band – with Joe Browne on bass, Luca Bateman on guitar and Jatayu Mudana on drums.

This is a free ticketed event.
