Who are Ellinikes Fones?
Ellinikes Fones is a community choir based in Brisbane, Australia. We are passionate about preserving the Hellenic language and culture through music. Ellinikes Fones was established in 2021 by conductor Christina Xydi-Lignou, musicologist and music producer George Lignos and registered music therapist and singer Katerini Manolatos, with the support of Tom Drakopoulos, under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Community of St. George, Brisbane. In 2023, the choir expanded to include Ellinikes Fones Junior- a choir for children aged 6-16 years.
Our objectives are simple yet profound: Sing Greek music, connect with the Greek community in Australia and learn and develop the Greek language through music. We are dedicated to passing on our Greek heritage to the next generation.
We hope our efforts will provide a platform for keeping the Hellenic ideal alive.
Join us on this exciting journey and help us preserve the Greek language and culture in Australia.
Thank you for your support!
