HELLNATION IV PROMISES YET ANOTHER NEWCASTLE FACE MELTER WITH STACKED LINEUP!

After three bone-shaking hit outs in 2022 and 2023, the fourthiteration of Newcastle’s mammoth-est punk/rock & roll all-dayer is back for another hefty helping of all-killer, no filler tunes across two stages.  

Once again, the iconic Lass O’Gowrie Hotel will be the site of this hellish happening and it will all go down from 12pm on Saturday 13 April.

And this time around you can expect one heck of a bill stacked with some of the finest punk and or rock and roll Oz has to offer. 

The good folks at Hellnation HQ have been busy curating yet another gargantuan lineup, and this time around, leading the charge are none other than Australian rock and roll legends THE NEW CHRISTS

And if that wasn’t enough to elicit a “heck yes, just take a squiz at the rest of this lineup.

The New Christs importance in the annals of Aussie rock and roll cannot be understated. 

Radio Birdman frontman Rob Younger formed what was to become The New Christs in the early 1980’s after the demise of Radio Birdman, primarily to support Iggy Pop’s ill fated Australian tour of 1983.

Line-ups of The New Christs have included members of Hoodoo Gurus, Celibate Rifles, Radio Birdman, Barracudas and Lime Spiders to name but a few. LP’s released by The New Christs include the classic ‘Distemper’, which reached number 1 on the Australian alternative charts in 1989, ‘Lower Yourself’, ‘We Got This’ and ‘Gloria’, as well as ‘Incantations’ their last studio effort from 2014.  Songs such as ‘Born Out of Time’ ‘Like a Curse’ and ‘Heading South’ are etched firmly into the Australian underground rock music psyche. 

The unmistakable voice, delivery and presence of Rob Younger and his band remains a consistent draw card for lovers of Australian rock music to this day. The current New Christs line up consists of Jim Dickson (Radio Birdman, Barracudas) – Bass, Paul Larsen (Celibate Rifles, Screaming Tribesman) – Drums, Brent Williams – Guitar and Keyboards, Dave Kettley(Radio Birdman) – Guitar, and Rob Younger.

With more awesome bands than you can poke a stick at. Hellnation IV is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet.
