    ABOUT

Soroptimist International of Fremantle is delighted to announce its 13th annual Help the Homeless Fine Art Auction to be held 5pm Saturday 30 July at the City of Fremantle’s Walyalup Civic Centre. After holding the auction online since the onset of the pandemic, SI Fremantle is thrilled to return to an in-person event in a spectacular new venue. MC for the Auction is Sam Longley. Sam has been working as an actor, comedian, writer and director since the mid nineties, and has written plays, hosted TV shows and is the creator of the improv comedy show The Big Hoo-Haa, now in its eleventh sell-out season. There's a performance by award-winning singer songwriter Jack Davies at 4pm, so arrive at 3.30pm to catch his performance.

The Auction benefits the Freo Street Doctor and St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in Fremantle, both of whom support the most vulnerable in our community, and is open to artists by invitation only.

Freo Street Doctor is a vital service, filling a gap to support the health needs of the most vulnerable people in our community. This iconic mobile service provides over 3000 consultations per year in street-side locations making health care available to all who require it.

St Patrick’s Community Support Centre (St Pat’s) is a not-for-profit organisation providing community housing and specialist services for people facing homelessness, which has been working side-by-side with vulnerable people in the south metropolitan region of Perth for 50 years.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organisation for women who seek to improve the lives of women and girls. First founded in 1921 in California, its members are committed to supporting local, national and international communities. Globally, Soroptimist International is represented at various committees reporting to the Untied Nations and presents a statement each year to the Council on the Status of Women.

Since 2010 Soroptimist International of Fremantle has focused on improving the lives of women and children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Its major source of funds is through the Help the Homeless Fine Art Auction.

Curator of the Auction is Lyn Di Ciero, publisher of the Artist's Chronicle and curator of the Mandorla Art Award, Australia's most significant thematic Christian art prize and the City of Rockingham's iconic Castaways Sculpture Awards.

The event is sponsored by the City of Fremantle and supported by the Craig Mostyn Group, Holy Mary Cellars, New Edition Bookshop, Bitches Brew Framers and Mikaela Miller Creative. The event will be officially opened by City of Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge.
