In this practical session, we will explore how connection can help children feel heard, safe and understood and how that can build confidence and communication.

We will look at:

Helping children name and express their feelings
What to do when a child feels overwhelmed or is having a meltdown
Simple ways to help children feel calm and safe
Listening and responding with empathy when children are finding things difficult
What a child’s behaviour might be communicating
Building trust through everyday interactions
Supporting children through change, while encouraging confidence and independence
Setting boundaries while staying connected, including helpful alternatives to an automatic “no”
Creating a safe space for children to share their ideas and worries

We’ll use everyday examples of what children might say and explore supportive ways to respond.

After the session, you will receive a link to printable resources, including a children’s feelings list and practical prompts to use at home or in your setting.
