Thu, 29 Oct, 7:30am - 8:45am EDT

Description

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they are feeling or what they need. The way we listen and respond can help them feel safe, understood and confident to express themselves.

Join Niici Lou for a thoughtful, practical session exploring how connection can help children feel heard in everyday moments. You will take away ideas for listening with care, responding to children’s feelings, encouraging communication and building trust, without needing to get every moment perfect.

Whether you’re a parent, carer or educator, this session offers a chance to reflect, learn and gather simple approaches you can use with the children in your life.

What To Expect

In this practical session, we will explore how connection can help children feel heard, safe and understood and how that can build confidence and communication.

We will look at:

  • Helping children name and express their feelings

  • What to do when a child feels overwhelmed or is having a meltdown

  • Simple ways to help children feel calm and safe

  • Listening and responding with empathy when children are finding things difficult

  • What a child’s behaviour might be communicating

  • Building trust through everyday interactions

  • Supporting children through change, while encouraging confidence and independence

  • Setting boundaries while staying connected, including helpful alternatives to an automatic “no”

  • Creating a safe space for children to share their ideas and worries

We’ll use everyday examples of what children might say and explore supportive ways to respond.

After the session, you will receive a link to printable resources, including a children’s feelings list and practical prompts to use at home or in your setting.
