Her Voice: A Celebration of the Women of Classical Music
Event description
Following their sold-out performance in 2023, the Waldstein Trio return to the Hellenic Centre with a powerful programme celebrating the often overlooked, yet extraordinary legacy of women composers from the 19th century to the present day.
From Clara Schumann to Valentina Scheldhofen Ciardelli, this concert traces over 200 years of remarkable creativity, showcasing the unique and compelling voices of women who composed against the grain of a male-dominated musical tradition. For too long, their contributions were dismissed, marginalised, or forgotten—pushed to the periphery of concert repertoire and historical recognition.
Yet these composers, through resilience and brilliance, challenged the barriers set before them. Their works are filled with emotional depth, originality, and artistic power. This performance honours their legacy and affirms the importance of restoring women’s rightful place in the classical canon.
Join us in celebrating the female creative spirit—through its music, its resilience, and its long-overdue recognition.
