Event description

Meeting a plant through direct experience, in an immersive tea tasting & and meditation, where you will be guided to notice and experience what this plant moves within you. Our immersive experiences are then discussed and linked to the evidence-based and traditional teachings of Western Herbalism, to gain a deeper understanding of the healing qualities of the plant and invitations for deeper connection..

"In some native langugaes, the term for plant translates to "those who take care of us". - Robin Wall Kimmerer

This workshop may be for you if you are curious about deepening your relationship with the plants that grow around you, feel drawn to the path of the intuitive herbalist, view plants as healers and want to learn about a plant's medicinal qualities through a direct experience, traditional and evidence-based herbalism combined, in an accessible and collective way.

There will be group and paired discussions, gentle meditation, guided immersion and education, breaks for journalling and reflecting.

We close by discussing different herbal preparations or rituals we may wish to use at home to continue our immersion with a chosen plant.

Testimonials:

"I did a Herbal immersion workshop with Tamara some weeks ago and I found fascinating the way she held the space and guided us in our journey to connect with herbs. This taught me to trust in my intuitive knowledge, to recognise the characteristics of herbs and it's effects in my own body, mind and spirit." - Giuliana

“Thank you for the beautiful afternoon getting to know Calendula. I love the method of learning you offer. It made me step out of my brain and ‘mental’ tendencies and to look, feel and really observe the plant, and how it is working for me..and actually very practical so the knowledge can be easily incorporated into everyday life. -Jodie

About the facilitator:

Tamara here. I am a student herbalist, workshop facilitator and permaculture teacher who began studying & immersing in the processes of grass-roots herbalism, Intuitive and Traditional Herbalism in 2019. Over the past 4 years, I have become immersed in both Permaculture and herbalism grass-roots education/living and completed a Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine in 2022, and various Permaculture courses 2020-22. My recent approach to herbalism is informed by my Health Science studies and various grass-roots herbalism movements worldwide that aim to make herbal medicine knowledge accessible.

This workshop is directly inspired by time spent immersing with the herbs at the School of Intuitive Herbalism (2019, 2023), check out their website if you'd like to know more.

Through my workshops, I aim to highlight the importance of learner-centred learning, skill sharing, personal connection to plants for healing, community-sufficiency building, as well as the joy that slow and simple home herbalism can bring to our daily lives.
