Event description
From field to red box to data - Western Australian Herbarium Collections and their use in Biodiversity Science
With more than two decades of botanical research experience, Dr Shelley James is the Collections Manager of the Western Australian Herbarium, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
In this presentation, she will describe how the Western Australian Herbarium fits within the global network of botanical collections and explains why research-quality botanical collecting and continued preservation of specimens is needed.
Shelley’s talk will be followed by a flower pressing workshop, where you'll get the opportunity to put the techniques into practice and produce a beautiful keepsake of the day.
