Join us for a tour of the Pah Homestead, rich in its history of colonial characters, architectural features; with Trish Northey. You will also be treated to the Homestead Café’s special heritage-themed morning tea. This popular event sells out quickly - be sure to get your tickets!

Ever wondered who was lucky enough to live in this magnificent location, considered one of the grandest nineteenth-century residences in Auckland? On this captivating tour, experienced heritage tour leader Trish Northey will regale you with stories about the Pah Homestead’s 170-year history and its intriguing past residents. Following the tour, you will be treated to Hill House Cafe's special heritage-themed morning tea. 

Did you know: 

  • Ngai Riukiuta, descendants of the Tainui voyaging canoe, settled on the Monte Cecilia site in the 1300s!
  • In 1872 an attempt was made on the life of then owner of the old homestead, Thomas Russell, by a disgruntled associate, Cyrus Haley, who took eight shots through the windows at random!
  • Designed by leading architects Edward Mahoney & Sons and built by Keane and Jenkinson, in the Italianate style made fashionable by Queen Victoria’s Osbourne House, the price tag was £20,000 – a huge sum in the 1870s.
