ABOUT HETTY KATE
"Hetty has an approach to the songs that feels just right. She sings with an easy confidence that is infectious" —
Joseph Lang : Jersey Jazz Magazine (USA)

Jazz vocalist Hetty Kate is often lauded for her ‘natural musicality’, unadorned vocal style, pure tone and impeccable timing, a quality that draws in audiences and musicians alike. A singer that loves the music and loves to swing, Hetty has been described as “the real deal” and “one of the best swing singers on the current scene” (Will Friedwald, Author and Jazz Critic USA).

Born in England, raised in Australia and now living in Paris, Hetty has toured internationally for over a decade, gracing stages large and small from New Zealand to New York. Festival appearances include the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), Sapporo International Jazz Festival (JP), Melbourne International Jazz Festival (AU) and many more across Europe, Australia and Asia. Hetty sang with Australian jazz luminary James Morrison for five years and during that time was the featured vocalist for his award-winning symphonic concert 'The A to Z of Jazz' which toured with nine symphonies internationally, including the MSO, SSO, TSO and WASO in Australia. She has sung on Spicks'n'Specks, performed in theatre and film and

"Hetty Kate has a stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice"
 — James Morrison : Australian Jazz Luminary (AU)

It's been three years since Hetty was back in Australia, and for this concert she will be joined by three of her favourite musicians, guitarist James Sherlock, bassist Helen Russell and drummer Dave Sanders. These musicians have been long time collaborators and friends from the very beginning of Hetty's career in Melbourne and they always create a special magic when they play together.

Expect a warm entertaining evening, with songs chosen from Hetty's nine album releases, classics and curios from The Great American Songbook and perhaps a few surprises!
