High Country Lunch at Moscow Villa
Event description
Moscow Villa is a High Country hut built by Bill Ah Chow in the 1940s as his residence whilst manning the fire tower at nearby Mt Nugong. It is a simple one room structure with an impressive fireplace which has kept countless people warm and fed ever since.
Legend has it that MOSCOW VILLA is an acronym for My Own Summer Cottage Officially Welcomes Visitors Inside, Light Luncheon Available.
Hence a light luncheon will be served (by well-known local chef Stuart Derham), accompanied by some quality conversation around the history of the area, its rich cultural history & tales handed down to current locals about some colourful characters. The Nunniong high plains is a special place: an abundance of wildlife, very tall trees & regular snowfalls in winter. Please come prepared, find someone who likes driving high country roads, has a 4wd with alpine diesel & plenty of warm clothes. It snows at Moscow Villa!
