    Event description

    The Benjamin Walsh Quartet is back with us after a SELL OUT event in July to celebrate the release of their second single “Super Chihuahua”. This is the last chance to catch them in Australia before they head to Japan.

    A few months back this Australian quartet had the privilege of being released on “Hydrofunk Japan” a new international branch of the legendary Australian label.

    We are joined by Matthew Ottegnon, a phenomenal saxophonist from Sydney coming back to High Fi after many legendary performances. The Incredible Shenzo Gregorio will be joining us on violin, viola and guitar alongside multi talented Peter Hunt on trumpet and guitar also.

    Led by Benjamin Walsh on Drums who will be presenting two sets of his original compositions in the dynamic rhythmic style and rhythms interwoven through afrobeat Cumbia Jazz funk and many other world influences. Their international sound is hard to describe but born from the multicultural world of the Australian scene.

    Special guest Greg Sheehan is joining us on percussion and bass.

    Benjamin has brought his long time friend and left hand man back to his old stomping ground to stand alongside each other as a two headed rhythm section that acts as one! They have been playing together for three decades.

    Greg's approach to the bass is highly percussive, placing it on his lap face up and playing it like you have never seen before. The quartet will be a quintet in this mode, expect insane rhythms!

    Greg has written the book on timing and numbers, both metaphorically and literally. His sound is unique and is a huge influence on any musician who has crossed paths with him over the last 50 years. See more about his genius here;
