Rebecca Higgie is a writer from Boorloo (Perth), Western Australia. Her debut YA novel, The History of Mischief, won the inaugural Fogarty Literary Award for an unpublished manuscript and was published by Fremantle Press in 2020. Her short stories, creative non-fiction and poems have won awards and been published in journals, anthologies and newspapers including The West Australian, Westerly, The Hope Prize Anthology and Stories of Perth. Formerly an academic at Curtin University and Brunel University London, she has a PhD in cultural studies and has published research on satire and politics. She is passionate about the climate, history and the intricacies of storytelling during times of crisis. The Book of the After is her first book of adult fiction.

Mischa Parkee is our Director and Manager! Mish began her bookselling journey in 2009, where she discovered her passion for children’s literature. She went on to become a Primary School teacher at a local public school. Her father is Chinese and her mother is British, and she lives on Gadigal, Gweagal & Bidjigal land. She is a Young Adult enthusiast, and has extensively studied female pioneers of 18th and 19th century literature. Her favourite genres are fantasy, Gothic, speculative fiction, classics written by women, and picture books she shares with her 1 year old son.
