EPIC Families,

Join us in exploring 500-year-old cedars and 300-year-old post oak trees at the Keystone Ancient Forest! We will have two guided tours to choose from.

  • The Childers Trail is apprpximately 0.6 miles in length, 5' in width and takes about 20 minutes to complete. It has a smooth asphalt surface and is ADA accessible, with very gentle grade inclines. This is the easiest trail to hike and is recommended for our younger students or people with walking difficulties.
  • The Frank Trail is approximately 2.8 miles in length and will take about 2 hours to hike. The surface of this trail is compacted stone and bare soil. This moderately difficult-rated trail includes "switchbacks" about 400 yards into the trail that present some steeper inclines. This trail is recommended for those looking for more of a challenge!  This trail is NOT recommended for small children or strollers.

Students and families will enjoy a day outside hiking and enjoying nature. Among other things, on the Frank Trail, you will learn about famed American author Washington Irving and how he passed through the Ancient Forest in October of 1832. You will also learn some Oklahoma history and some interesting facts about the Osage Nation.

Don't miss this opportunity to be outside walking and hiking among some of our states greatest wonders! This will be a fun time outdoors getting exercise and fresh air!
