Hilary Geddes Quartet "Parkside" tour at Piccolo Family Farm
Event description
SIMA presents Hilary Geddes Quartet ‘Parkside’ Tour - at Piccolo Family Farm.
“Hilary Geddes is a strikingly distinctive guitarist. Her compositions take in a broad sweep of possibilities” - John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
Originally from Griffith, Sydney-based guitarist and composer Hilary Geddes is an emerging star of the Australian scene – a must see performer! “a fine guitarist and a discerning sonic sculptor…” - Sydney Morning Herald. Recipient of Australia’s most prestigious jazz award in 2021, The Freedman Jazz Fellowship, Hilary Geddes leads a quartet comprised of Sydney’s new generation of jazz stars. Her quartet is beautifully synchronized to create unique sonic landscapes and expansive and uplifting music that’s reminiscent of the great Bill Frissell – with an elemental Australian flavor.
Her debut album Parkside was released in 2021 with ABC Jazz as part of the ABC Jazz Scholarship, bringing young Australian voices to the wider public. Growing up in Griffith, much of the music on the album is inspired by places in the Riverina. The quartet will tour in Riverina in June 2022. As Hilary says, “to bring the music back home”.
Ticket includes pre-show canapes by Limone Dining, drinks can be purchased at the bar.
