Hill/Tucker/Undy + Double Trouble
Event description
Contemporary Jazz in an Unusual Place.
Hill/Tucker/Undy
Hill/Tucker/Undy improvise and play compositions. The music explores a range of sonic possibilities including textural densities, tension at different volumes and timbral combinations. Melodies and rhythmic archetypes are used as platforms for improvisation. Written components function as interchangeable pieces that can be rearranged to create frameworks in which improvisation is informed
Gabriella Hill is an exciting and original new voice on the tenor saxophone. Her trio provides an excellent vehicle for her explorations of the instrument and her complementary compositional approach. As well as leading her own trio, Gabriella is a member of the groups Double Trouble and Splinter Orchestra. Gabriella and Alex performed as a duo and with other musicians at the SoundOut Festival 2025.
Gabriella Hill, tenor saxophone
Cameron Undy, double bass
Alex Tucker, drums
Double Trouble
Double Trouble consists of drums and saxophones. Previous iterations have included aggressive minimalism, structured improvisation and saxophone accompanied drum music. This performance may include a combination of the above or may include none at all. They are also interested in the impact of location on improvisation.
Alex and Daniel have developed a unique compositional and improvisational approach as a drumset duo, and when they supplement this with a duo of tenor saxophones, the result is Double Trouble!
Alex Tucker, drumset
Daniel Raymond, drumset
Gabriella Hill, tenor saxophone
Aidan Wong, tenor saxophone
