Venue Details:
Anya Anastasia: is an independent musician, composer and performer from the Adelaide Hills. Her new music is a powerful blend of dark folk, and sparse Nordic electronica.
Anya's soft rich low vocals which flick up to butterfly-like high-notes, paint stark vivid imagery with stirring melodies, somewhere between Cat Power and Sigur Rós. The vocals are welded to a base of hypnotically droning synths, driving basslines and West-African inspired guitar licks.
Anastasia sings and plays electric & acoustic guitar and banjo, accompanied by Gareth Chin on keys/synths and Satomi Ohnishi on percussion/drums. This is a huge departure from Anastasia's previous work which took her around the world, from treading the boards of theatres in New York and the lights of Broadway, to the depths of old castles and theatre venues of the Edinburgh Fringe.
While this dark folk sorcery seems a distant cry from the goth-glam satire of Anastasia's previous touring shows it harks further back to her past, drawing on her childhood influences of growing up surrounded by West African percussionists and music, performing in Romanian string and voice ensembles, and learning Celtic music from an elderly Scottish piper in formative years.
The innate authenticity of this new work set to provide the launching pad for the heavy environmentalist urgency of the content, and this pandemic-cocooned transformation is ready to blossom in full force.

Eyrie: "eye-ree" an eagle's nest.
Eyrie are a four piece folk band from Adelaide, SA. Influenced by indie-folk artists such as First Aid Kit, Gregory Alan Isakov and Laura Marling, Eyrie's soaring harmonies and trad string playing create a unique and whimsical sound. Formed in 2019, the band features sisters Clara and Miranda GIllam Grant, Thea Martin on violin and Allan McBean on double bass. Eyrie released their first set of "Bird Song" demos in September this year and are currently working on their debut single.

Andrew McNicol: is an independent musician, dancer and performer from the Adelaide Hills who plays Didgeridoo, the Kora (West African harp), the Celtic Whistle and a range of percussion instruments from various cultures including the West African Jembe drum.
"When we embrace an instrument from another culture we have two choices. We can choose to learn how the instrument is played in its culture of origin or we can explore the instruments nature and richness through experimentation and improvisation. The Kora and the Ngoni have provided me with a wonderful vehicle for the exploration of rhythm, modality and harmonics.”
