HINA: Pūheke Community Dance Workshop - with Louise Pōtiki Bryant
Event description
HINA: Pūheke Community Dance Workshop - with Louise Pōtiki Bryant
Pūheke (to flow) is a community dance class workshop offering breathing, somatic and dance improvisation exercises inspired by the movement of water, wetlands ecosystems and atua wāhine. Join accomplished movement artist Louise Potiki Bryant for an exploration of dance inspired by Te Hakari wetlands.
Louise integrates dance, movement and Mātauranga Māori, to inspire meaningful connections between our tinana (body), whenua (land), and wai (water). This workshop explores movement vocabulary drawn from wetland ecosystems - water flow, native plant growth, and wildlife patterns. Participants will engage in guided improvisation and breath work, developing personal movement language through structured exercises that reflect ecological patterns.
Suitable for all experience levels. Recommended age 15+
Wear comfortable clothes. Spaces are limited so registration is essential.
