Why am I doing a Quiz Fundraiser ?
Kia ora, in case we haven't met before I am Hinn :)
I identify as trans-masculine and am currently on the journey trying to save for top surgery.
Living in my body makes me feel extremely dysphoric, and is a struggle I'm having to face every day. I've been compressing my chest for many years now, which has severely impacted my back, resulting in regular physiotherapy being needed.
I was taken off the Christchurch DHB public waitlist for top surgery without reason, and was denied funding a few months before my scheduled surgery date in early 2025. Due to this, I am having to go privately. As you may know surgery in Aotearoa is extremely expensive, with the most recent quote I received being over $27,000. This is well and truly out of reach for me as I’ve just completed a three year degree, so here I am doing the mahi to fundraise!
All funds raised will go directly towards covering the cost of the surgery.
Event details:
Fear not ! This isn’t the stock-standard 10 round pub quiz that feels like it’ll never end !
To spice things up a little, we’ve put together our very own quiz. 6 rounds of 10 questions.
Brush off your thinking caps as this is a quiz of eclectic general knowledge, along with a touch of queer trivia to stay on theme as an event during Pride month🌈
There’s a limit of 6 players per team, which can be organized independently. If you’re interested in coming along but haven’t got a team together, get in touch with Hinn and we can sort something out :)
Please consider your transport options to and from the event. We recommend carpooling with friends where possible as a chance to show support to our venue hosts, darkroom.
darkroom is a queer safe space that hosts a range of events for the local community, continuously offering support as a core venue within Ōtautahi’s arts and music scene. We're grateful to be able to hold the event at such an iconic venue !
Doors open at 6.30pm, so head down early for a drink and some nibbles before kick-off at 7pm!
