Emily Paull’s historical novel The Distance Between Dreams brings to life the experiences of Australians during and after the Second World War. Through richly drawn characters and evocative storytelling, Emily explores how hope, love, and resilience endure even in the most challenging times. She’ll share her research, inspiration, and the craft behind telling stories that honour the sacrifices of the past.

Melinda Tognini — Many Hearts, One Voice

Melinda Tognini’s Many Hearts, One Voice tells the remarkable story of the War Widows’ Guild in Western Australia, chronicling how ordinary women came together to support each other and make their voices heard in the aftermath of war. Melinda will reveal how she uncovered these stories and why remembering the courage of women is an essential part of ANZAC commemoration.

We’re delighted to welcome Emma Young as our guest interviewer. Emma is a Western Australian writer and journalist, as well as the author of The Last Bookshop, and brings a wealth of experience from across the literary world. With her deep love of storytelling and connection to the local book community, she will guide the conversation with warmth and insight.
