History of Columbine/Maytag Lecture

As we celebrate DLC's 2026 Under a Wild Sky at the historic Maytag Ranch, local historian Todd McMahon (Douglas County History Repository) will give a lecture on the history of the Columbine/Maytag area. A reception will be held upstairs in the local history lounge beginning at 5pm. This is a great chance to view the display of Ranch history that the Library has put together and share stories. The presentation will begin at 6pm downstairs in Event Hall B.

This display and presentation are part of a project to preserve and protect the cultural history of our conserved lands. This means archiving historical documents, saving physical artifacts from loss, interviewing landowners and long-time residents, and consolidating information to contribute to our understanding of the amazing history of Douglas County.

DLC presentations are offered free of charge, but a $10 per person donation is suggested so that we may continue to offer educational outreach events in the community. (photo: Rich Jakubiak)
