Join us for an inspiring afternoon as the Melbourne HIV Cure Consortium (MHCC) showcases the latest advances in HIV cure research. Funded by the Victorian Department of Health, the MHCC brings together experts across Victoria working toward a common goal: a future without HIV.
At this year’s Science for Community Symposium, scientists will take you through their research, and the real-world impact their work is having on people living with HIV. From cutting-edge lab-based experiments, to clinical trials and social research, you’ll hear how science, medicine, and community perspectives come together to shape what’s next.
Whether you’re living with HIV, supporting someone who is, or simply curious about the future of HIV research, we warmly welcome you to join in, learn, and be part of the conversation.

3:00 - 3:30pm - arrival and afternoon tea
3.30 - 3.50pm - opening and keynote address
3.50 - 5.00pm - MHCC grant recipient presentations
5.00 - 5.30pm - panel discussion and Q&A
The symposium will followed by canapés and networking
Keynote speaker: Professor Sharon Lewin
Professor Sharon Lewin AO is an internationally renowned infectious diseases physician-scientist, Director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, and immediate past President of the International AIDS Society. A Melbourne Laureate Professor, she is one of the world's leading figures in HIV cure research, heading a dedicated team focused on understanding and eliminating HIV persistence.
Getting There:
The venue is easily accessible via tram routes 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, and 67.
Please alight at Stop 27: High St / St Kilda Rd.
Taxis and rideshare services (e.g. Uber) are also convenient options.
