Our expert guide, Alyssa Cornell, will illuminate the art and science of taxidermy using some of our museum's most fascinating specimens, including the awe-inspiring bison, the elegant Wilson's Snipe, study skins, her personal taxidermy supplies, exquisite pelts, and meticulously articulated bird skeletons. But this event isn't just about observation; it's interactive! You'll have the chance to engage with the inner workings of a taxidermy mount, getting hands-on by guessing and creating the anatomy on paper.

Alyssa will also delve into the evolution of taxidermy practices, comparing the old with the new and offering insights into how these changes impact the approach of museum professionals towards the care of these specimens.
