HOBSONS BAY AUSTRALIA DAY BREAKFAST AND FESTIVAL 2021

TUESDAY 26 JANUARY, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM AT SEAWORKS, WILLIAMSTOWN

Reflect, Respect, Celebrate - we're all part of the story.

Altona Lions Club has revamped its Australia Day breakfast with a post-lockdown Federal Government grant to offer a range of local and indigenous talent to the residents of Hobsons Bay and beyond. After 20 successful years of breakfasts at the Williamstown Town Hall, the celebratory event has moved to Seaworks, Williamstown, where it can cater for up to 400 guests for a sumptuous breakfast and a morning of musical entertainment.

Altona Lions Club wants to recognise and celebrate the importance of the history, traditions and cultures of Indigenous Australians, as well as acknowledging active citizenship and achievements of some of our outstanding residents. We invite you to join us to reflect on and learn about our nation’s journey, respect the different views about Australia Day, and have a constructive conversation about our history, seeking ways to move forward together. We hope our community will relish coming together for such an event to celebrate Australia Day after the challenges of 2020. We want as many people to join with us for a festival of respect, recognition and encouragement.

The breakfast ceremony will include an Acknowledgement of Country, a welcome from the Mayor and a speech from the Australia Day Ambassador as well as the National Anthem. We will hear stories from a diverse range of community members before we move on to a celebration of musical talent.

Building on the success of the Cherry Lake Cultural Series over 3 years, the fabulous festival line up includes a mix of performances which showcase local community talent as diverse as opera singing to accordion playing and featuring Wiradjuri Soprano Vocalist Shauntai Batzke, aboriginal poet Robbie Batzke, The Glenrowan Bush Band, Visionary-Steel and The World’s Biggest Garage Band.

Let these people play again!

Purchase a General Admission ticket for $10 which gives you tea, coffee and juice until 10 AM. Add your choice of breakfast box for $12.50.

After 10 AM, food trucks in the courtyard can be accessed for more food and drinks while you watch the musical performances until 1 PM.

This is a COVID Safe event. Please bring your mask to wear while you are inside and not eating.
