Hobsons Bay Toy Library Sensory Play Sessions
Event description
The Hobsons Bay Toy Library is proud to be providing a fun and inclusive FREE activity with The Fun In Art.
Sessions are 10-11am however families are welcome to stay as little or as long as they like during that time.
A monthly sensory play session at the Hobsons Bay Toy Library!
This is a great opportunity to visit the Toy Library in Newport. You can browse, borrow, return, or sign up.
Everyone welcome! No need to be a member (unless you'd like to borrow some toys!)
The Toy Library will be open indoors, and outside in the garden there will be a free sensory play session happening run by The Fun In Art.
These sessions are designed to create a safe space for everyone. They are inviting, welcoming, easy going, with no expectations from the kids. There is a big focus on sensory play and expression.
There will be multiple things happening all at once, so the kids can walk around, explore and choose what they would like to do and how they would like be creative.
We will be outside in the garden, with plenty of toys!
Some things we will be doing will be:
Sensory, tactile play with scoops, tongs and more,
Loose parts play for sorting and making patterns
Water play (from September onwards)
Standing up, painting/spraying paint on a sheet on the fence
Scribbling on the windows with special window crayons
Stamping and drawing their hearts out on plain butchers paper
There will be a calm area to chill out
Walking around with clipboards and colouring in sheets
Playing in the sand
General painting
Find and seek nature objects
And more
Each session will be loosely based on a theme. This helps not only keep things interesting, but aids in a conversation starter, and learning.
August - Winter
September - Spring
October - Halloween
November - Spring
December - Summer
These sessions are to help bring the community together, no matter what differences, disabilities or abilities your children have.
To help ensure a safe space for everyone, please reach out and let us know if your child has any special needs that we should know about.
Since this is an outdoor event, if the weather forces us to cancel, that will have to be the case. Please keep an eye on your email closer to the date in case of cancellation.
Who are The Fun In Art?
The Fun In Art is run by local mum Tegan Farrugia.
It is a paid toddler & pre-school art playgroup in Inner West Melbourne.
Weekly drop-in sessions for mums (or dads!) who want their little ones to experience the fun in art, without having to clean up afterwards!
It's a relaxed environment, with no judgements or expectations from the kids.
Lots of materials are provided and set up in an inviting way. This allows each child to gravitate towards what they are interested in, and be creative in any way they choose to.
Come to a single session, every week, or every now and then!
Location is from Williamstown Library, the same garden that these sensory sessions are in, as well as a few local cafes.
