Event description

Discover the versatility of tin with this traditional Mexican folk art dating back to the 16th century.

Mexican Tin Art is a popular Art form that has been passed down through the generations. Tin work, known in Mexico as hojalata, goes back to the 16th century. Artists use tin to create sculptures, ornaments, and picture frames.

Tin art is produced when pieces of tin are cut, shaped, and embossed with a pattern. Bright lacquer paint is applied to the tin; often unusual or non-realistic colors are chosen. Supplies and light refreshments provided. All experience levels welcome, but caution, participants will be using sharp objects.
