WHAT IS HOLDING SPACE?

It’s a way of being and relating with others, individually or within a group, as a process of creating a safe space and guiding the other/s back to their inner wisdom and allowing them to be as they are.

It’s an energetic container that goes beyond the mind and the physical, where intuition, somatics, energy, boundaries, trauma, relational dynamics, communication without words and much more are at play.

When practiced intentionally with gentleness, grounded presence, empathy, safety, curiosity, listening actively + deeply, without interruption or shame and without giving advice, trying to fix or change anything based on your own tendencies or projections, it can create space for deep connection, healing, and transformation.

DURING THIS WORKSHOP...

We’ll explore holding space in different contexts, including for yourself, one-on-one, smaller groups and together as a whole group. This is an experiential workshop that will support you to deepen your practice and experience in holding space, as well as expand self-awareness and awareness around relational dynamics with others.

These learnings and ways of being can be applied to holding space in many settings and contexts in your life, whether it’s sitting with someone personally or professionally going through an emotional process, teaching yoga, facilitating workshops, retreats, group work, community gatherings, trainings, seeing clients, in all kinds of relationships and much more. Even if you’re experienced at holding space, there are always opportunities to deepen into, explore, expand awareness and learn something new.


ABOUT LUCY LIGHTSTONE

Lucy is a yoga teacher with a special interest in Bhakti yoga, sound healing and ceremonial spaces. She is passionate about sharing the powerful practices of mantra & sound, and creating experiences for people to reconnect with and remember who they are.

Lucy has been holding space for most of her adult life before even knowing there was a name for this way of being. Her experience in holding space for groups and individuals is founded in her trainings and experience as a yoga teacher, chanting + sound facilitator, women’s circle facilitator, ceremony facilitator, as well as through a colourful variety of life experience, in relationships and healing with earth medicine over the past 9+ years.

Her grounded presence, gentle nature and clear boundaries create a safe, nurturing space for others to feel heard, seen, felt, cared for, understood and comfortable to express + be who they are without judgment.
