Portland Maine's SYTHE shapes their black-death-tech-sludge-doom alloys into something that moves like a fever dream: dense, jagged, and acerbically hypnotic. Their songs tilt between volcanic heaviness and drifting, dissociative passages, as if the ground continuously shifts under the witnesses feet. Echoes of the Melvins, early (Classic) Mastodon, Keelhaul, Neurosis, ISIS, Death and others thread through the noise, but the band twists those influences into their own bleak circuitry — corrosive tones illustrating carved-out undercurrents of psychic unraveling.
