Event description

Children and players over the age of 7 and current and future coaches, come along for a day of fun, skill development and team challenges. Our aim is to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all players to have a go, develop their skills and walk away with new connections in the Onka Piranha’s community.

We welcome all current Onka Piranhas players as well as any children born after 2015 (U10S) who would like to 'come and try' basketball. Come n Try will run from 10am till 11am and is free is any new player.

The Holiday Training Camp is open to children of all abilities, genders and ages after 2015. We will group players into age group and/or ability groups so that enjoyment is experienced by all.

The day will begin at 09:00am and wrap up with a presentation and prizes at 3:00pm. The camp will be held at the St Francis de Sales Community Sports Centre.

The day will be a comfortable mix of basketball skills and drills as well as off-court team building activities. It will be a great chance to meet new friends and build new connections within our basketball club

Players will need to bring a basketball (if they have one), drink, a packed lunch and a positive attitude.

**MANDATORY** All Children will need to be signed in and out. Please bring your child/ren into the Stadium and find our Volunteers. Do not drop off.**

The camp will be capped at 30 players only, so it is important to take advantage of the ‘early bird’ ticketing to ensure your child doesn’t miss out!

The camp will be led by Piranhas President and Head Coach Caleb Wilsmore and Head Coach Caroline Burgess. Club coaches will assist during the day providing additional opportunities for feedback and development.

Coach Caleb has an extensive coaching history and a passion for getting the best out of young players through a play-practice approach to training. Coach Caleb values our Clubs motto of Community - Connection & Courage makes this a day not to be missed,

Coach Caroline comes with playing experience from a Professional Basketball career that took her around the world. She encourages all her players to develop a strong work ethic and train at game pace to get the best improvements in their game. Caroline is also a PE teacher, and will pass on her knowledge to other coaches about how to get the best out of our current generation of young players.

Coaches will have an opportunity to learn technique progressions, offensive and defensive principles and add new drills to their basketball coaching resource. Those coaches who do come along to help will have free entry for their children and receive a free coaches manual. The manual has 129 pages of skills and drills to add to their coaching tool box.

We welcome and would love all Onka Piranhas club coaches to attend the camp.
