Description
Nature Create – Storytelling on Country with Rickeeta Walley
Come along and experience a vibrant new term of Nature Create celebrating Noongar culture through storytelling, creative making, and connection to Country.
This inclusive, after-school series is designed for children of all abilities and their families, set in the beautiful natural surroundings of Walliabup Bibra Lake — traditionally a place of women and birth.
This term, the program explores shadow puppetry storytelling, with Rachel Riggs facilitating creative development alongside Rickeeta Walley. Children and families will explore shadow puppetry traditions from different cultures while creating original stories inspired by Walliabup Bibra Lake and learning through story on Country.
Led by proud Noongar woman and Cultural Educator Rickeeta Walley, this program offers children a meaningful opportunity to engage with First Nations culture and the natural world through stories that hold knowledge, place, and belonging. This term’s focus on storytelling through shadow, light, movement, and making supports creativity, curiosity, and confidence while strengthening children’s relationship with Country through gentle, hands-on cultural and artistic experiences.
This intergenerational program supports wellbeing, celebrates children’s ideas, and encourages respectful engagement with ancient culture and language in a welcoming space for learning and connection.
