Spooky Halloween STEM (multi-schools event)

Home Educated students have been invited to join in the Halloween fun along with some other schools, at the Yarra Ranges Tech School (YRTS) in Lilydale.

Students will work in teams to develop a story and create a Spooky Film 🎃👻 . The process involves team members taking a role to make a background, create sound effects, and use AI to make music. The students will also work together with their group to utilise stop-motion and the SIM screen, as well as special effects makeup and 3D printed jewellery/adornments, and bring everything together to create their film.

Halloween costumes are encouraged!

About this event

This event is being offered to home educated students in the Yarra Ranges region that are secondary school level - 12+ years. A valid HEN Membership is required ➡ get one here!

This particular event can be a drop-off event, but requires the following procedures to be completed with the YRTS Administration before entrance to the venue will be permitted:

1. The completed & signed parent/carer consent form, including any Asthma and Anaphalaxis plans, submitted directly to the YRTS Administration. A form will be emailed out ASAP after booking.

2. The YRTS attendance register needs to be signed by the attending child's parent/carer before and after the event.

NOTE: A few parent/carer helpers will be needed, please advise when booking if you are able to help. The following conditions will apply:

1. A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) card - It is a condition of the YRTS that all visiting adults are required to show their Working with Children Check (WWCC) card to the YRTS Administrator before entrance to the school is permitted.

2. Currrent HEN Membership

3. Other arrangements need to be made beforehand for any children not booked in as they will not be able to stay.

4. Please understand that parents/carers are not to actively participate in the sessions.

Please check the expiry date of both the HEN Membership, and your WWCC card, as the details of these are required when booking this event.

Ensure you read and agree to the Guidelines for HEN Event Attendees for this event before making a booking.

Make sure to arrive at 9.15 am for a 9.30 am program start. Remember to bring food and water for the morning and lunch breaks. The session will finish at 2.30pm.

NOTE: HEN events are all organised by volunteers, so please be mindful of this when contacting the organiser and on the day of the event.

As there are a limited number of tickets allocated to HEN for this schools event, please book this event only if you are sure that you can attend. If event has booked out please join the waitlist, and you will be contacted if any tickets become available. For anyone that is no longer able to attend, please cancel ASAP so that others may have the opportunity to attend.

Location

The Yarra Ranges Tech School is part of the Box Hill Institute, Lilydale Lakeside Campus and located in Building L3. The main entrance can be accessed from the south-west carpark located at the southern end of Jarlo Drive.
