Event description

Learn how to do an energy audit on your home.

The Green Skills Inc. initiative, Totally Renewable Denmark (TRD), is on a mission to reduce energy use by households and promote the use of renewable energy. In support of Denmark households being able to assess the energy efficiency of their homes, TRD has released two Energy Audit Kits available to borrow from Denmark Environment Centre.

The energy audit kit will guide households to identify appliances that are high energy users (or using energy even when turned off), when the home is using the most power and areas that could use more insulation or are leaking cold air. Energy efficiency means less energy to provide the same service, and therefore making your home more energy efficient will reduce your energy bills as well as the environmental footprint.

Each kit comes with tools that enables households to track the power usage for the entire house and/or of an individual appliance in real time and determine the energy efficiency of the home. It also comes with a detailed manual on how to install and use each of the tools contained in the kit and guides households through activities to determine energy use of appliances and home energy efficiency. A worksheet enables households to record energy usage results and identify energy savings actions.

At the event, we'll do a cook up to show you how much power different cooking equipment uses in real time by using tools contained in the Energy Audit Kits.  Enjoy some warm and healthy soup and fresh baked bread.

This event is facilitated by Totally Renewable Denmark (Green Skills initiative) and supported by the Shire of Denmark Community Environmental Education Projects Grant and the Denmark Sustainability Fund Inc.
