Historic Liverpool Project Based Learning Program
What is the pre-colonial history of Liverpool? Who was Governor Macquarie and why is he important to Liverpool's history? What remains of the original convict designed and built buildings in Liverpool?
These are just some of the questions you could answer through our Historic Liverpool project-based learning program.
Following the curriculum focus of your stage, your role will be to design your own question, research it and then present your findings to a panel in the final session, with the aim of adding to Liverpool's local history resources.
What is Project Based Learning?
A program in which "students work over an extended period on a project that involves them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience. As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills." https://www.pblworks.org/what-... this program, students choose a topic of interest and become historians by exploring Liverpool, learning research skills, listening to and interviewing an expert on the topic, and gaining presentation experience.
The program consists of 4 2-hour sessions with museum/library staff. Students work independently on their project between visits.
Please note that this program can be adapted. Please contact the museum to discuss.
