Homebirth Transfer Circle
Event description
Homebirth transfer is a complex journey to navigate.
Sometimes there is trauma, sometimes gratitude. Sometimes both, sometimes neither. There are a range of emotions involved, and women will often struggle with their sense of belonging to a particular community being disrupted.
This homebirth transfer circle is for any mother who transferred from planned homebirth to hospital at any stage of their journey, regardless of how recent or long ago it may have been. If you feel drawn to sitting in circle with others who have been through this experience, and be nourished, nurtured, witnessed, and hopefully even helped to heal, the invitation is open to you.
Sit with other mothers who have been through similar journeys, have a space to share your story without judgement or expectation, and show up exactly how you are with no pretence. All stories and all feelings are welcome in circle, and sometimes a safe place to share can make all the difference in the world.
We will also be doing some activities around releasing limiting beliefs and fears, and self-care practices to nurture.
Babes in arms are welcome, herbal teas and light snacks provided. Please join us for a peaceful couple of hours to hold and be held.
Sliding scale pricing available.
This circle is faciliated by Katelyn Commerford: doula, homebirth advocate, VBAC educator and mentor, and women's circle facilitator. Katelyn experienced a hospital transfer during her labour with her second baby, a planned HBAC who was ultimately born via repeat emergency caesarean. She brings a lived experience of the grief, the confusion, the heartache, and the competing emotional binaries that come with homebirth transfer, and looks forward to welcoming you to circle.
