HomeGround Open Day 2024 - POSTPONED

This event has passed Get Tickets

Event description

After a hugely successful and popular open day last year, we're doing it again!

You're invited to HomeGround where we're hoping we can bust a few myths about what it's like to experience homelessness, what the Mission does and how we do it.

Tickets are $10 and this will go toward the services we provide across housing, healthcare and food.

There will be a range of activities on the day:

  • HomeGround tours will start every 15mins from 12pm until 4.15pm, please meet at 140 Hobson Street.
  • Pop-up op shop
  • Experts and booths with all you've ever wanted to know - as well as our amazing collaborative partners ready to chat about their perspectives such as Community Law, Community Art and Speed Freaks.

About the Mission:

Every day at the Mission, we respond to poverty and great need in our city. People come to us when they need a safe place to call home, enough nutritious food to eat, and when their health is compromised. Our services have evolved as the city’s social needs have done. We respond to these needs with care and compassion while advocating for a reality where there are enough suitable homes, enough money for nutritious food and easily accessible health care for all.

About the HomeGround building:

Nicholas Stevens and Gary Lawson of Stevens Lawson Architects (SLA) were awarded the 2022 Gold Medal by Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects, considered New Zealand's highest honour for architects. HomeGround is a work of international significance, winning the World Architecture Festival commendation and standing as a model of care-informed architecture. It’s also a model of technical innovation: the tallest structural timber building in Aotearoa, and the product of meticulously considered sustainability principles.

We look forward to welcoming you into our home this April.  Tickets sold out fast last time so book now!
