Homespun Festival: Sunday Summer Sessions
Event description
After the success of our first HOMESPUN events in 2020, we are delighted to be going monthly in Adelaide throughout summer 2021!
NEXT EVENT:
It's forecasted to be 41 degrees this Sunday, so on the advice of the festival team and our lovely friends at City of Prospect, we have decided to cancel the event on Sunday January 24th. Tickets already purchased will be valid for either of our upcoming events (Sunday 14th Feb and Sunday 21st March), or you can absolutely request a refund as well.
Thanks so much for your support, and stay cool this weekend!
---------
Join us in St. Helen's Park in Prospect (10 mins from the city centre) for an afternoon of live music and festival vibes. Treat yourself to something delicious from our fave food vans, browse our vinyl & vintage market stalls, and grab a Sunday sipper at our VW bar - you can even BYO!
Our Rotunda Stage is hosted by cabaret queen Victoria Falconer ("...a star all-rounder with musical versatility, alluring jazz vocals and the impish shtick of a born comedienne." The Age) and each line-up features a handpicked selection of Adelaide's finest musicians and performers.
JANUARY LINEUP (POSTPONED)
Nathan May - Multi-talented emerging singer-songwriter Nathan May descends from the Arabana, Yawuru and Marridjabin clans. He was a finalist for the South Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist of the Year Award in 2018, and recently Nathan received the Aboriginal Young Achiever Award for his contribution in music and community service awarded by the Governor of South Australia. Inspired by country music, be captivated by Nathan’s unique way of storytelling through his songs. See his latest videos here.
Clifton Street House Band - the Homespun residents return with good vibes and good sounds to give you some tasty twists on a bunch of their favourite songs from Talking Heads to Janelle Monae! Featuring guest vocalist Winston Howard, bringing us a high-energy injection of Minnesota soul with a voice that will massage your ears and melt your heart.
Nice Verdes - these troubadours have been performing and travelling together since 2003. Drawing from the sounds of Cuba, Africa, Colombia, they play combinations of Cuban tres, accordions, guitar, harmonica and vocals. Inspired musically by their travels around the world (and playing festivals including Quadrapalooza and Edge of the World in Canada, and Encuentro Vallenato Femenino in Colombia), the duo have collaborated with artists from all countries, celebrating a strong sense of community and equality in diversity. Have a listen here.
PLUS a pop-up promenade party blast from our favourite beat-bringers, SaSamba!
HOMESPUN was born to help support our local music and arts industry in a time of need, with community at our heart and homegrown good times as our goal. Bring your picnic blanket, your dog and your mates for a Sunday love-in!
