Honouring Lost Dignity

For decades, babies who were stillborn or died soon after birth were buried in unmarked graves in the West Terrace Cemetery. As the Manager of the West Terrace Cemetery from 1994-1996, David McGowan was challenged to find the location of these graves. In meeting this challenge, he also initiated the construction of the Baby Memorial, giving recognition to the babies buried and peace to their families. David will share the story of how the project came to be, the process of identifying the graves and the resolution it achieved for those mothers.
