The half day Horsemanship Workshop is an introduction to Horse Riding targeting young people aged 10-17 years who do not have regular access to horses. The workshop will cover:

Catching and tying up horses safely
Grooming horses including types brushes and how to use them
Types of tack and how to tack-up a horse
Riding horses including walk, stop and turning. Depending on the confidence of the riders, they may have an opportunity to trot. We will assist them around an obstacle course
First Aid, nutrition and health of horses

Date: Tuesday 5 July 2022

Time: 9:30am -12:30pm | Gates open 9:00am

Age: Participants to be 10-17 years

The workshop will include morning tea and lunch. Participants will be presented with a Certificate of Completion of the Katherine Outback Experience Introductory Horsemanship Workshop.

Participants are required to have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to work with and ride the horses. Participants will need to wear closed-in shoes and are encouraged to wear sun smart attire including long pants, long sleeve shirt and a hat.
