1. Choose Your Own Adventure: Botanical Watercolour; Graphite or Coloured Pencil
- Venue: BASM in Sth Yarra (1A Shipley Street, Sth Yarra)
- Dates/Time: Fridays 10am - 4pm (Friday 2, 16, 30 May and 13 June)
- Cost: $330 per person (10% discount for you and a friend when you introduce a new person to the classes)
- Subject: Grapes, Plums and Persimmons with a focus on the bloom and glow
- Suits: Beginners / Intermediate artists in the media of your choice
Class Description:
This course will focus on observational drawing using graphite and/or coloured pencils OR painting with watercolour to achieve realistic renderings of botanical subjects. Also incorporated will be learning how to draw from life not photos; composition; extending knowledge about tone, light value and form; looking for patterns and botanical details in plant subjects and translating them into your drawings. This class is presented in a friendly and supportive environment and is suitable for ongoing beginners/intermediate with some drawing experience or for students wanting to develop and/or revisit their drawing/painting skills.
Outcomes:
At the end of the term, you will have built up a series of sketches and studies in your drawing book and completed at least one fully rendered drawing in graphite and/or coloured pencils OR watercolour painting. You will have developed further confidence in drawing from life and a better understanding of how to present the bloom on these fruit.
Time will be set aside to review work, provide feedback, discuss progress, and answer questions. The remainder of the class will be time for learning and working on your artwork independently.
