Growing up in regional NSW and going on to find home by the ocean, I’ve recently experienced a (welcome) upending of worldview upon seriously engaging in animist & ancestral relationship. It’s been these practices that have brought hope into me, and so, after religiously attending SBE (IG: @singingblackbird_enterprises) gatherings, I am deeply grateful to be a part of this exploration of re-learning (& re-weaving) kinship & earth-based culture as settlers on stolen Land. I’m particularly passionate about the necessity of collective grief ritual, song & dance, having facilitated the regular dance-based gathering Human Behaviour for over a year now, as well as two iterations of Folk Circle, an experiment in group sharing & sounding. I’m currently learning in an online caoineadh (keening) course on traditional Gaelic ritualised mourning, and nurturing a passion for teachings of Indigenous / traditional memory systems alongside this.
