Children need toys for physical, social and cognitive development. Unfortunately, 69% of children with disabilities do not have access to appropriate toys. This is largely due to parents having to pay upwards of 4 times more for a toy that has been adapted for their child, we need to find more affordable solutions.
SPLAT is a non-profit organisation that promotes inclusive play by providing high-quality workshops with easy-to-follow instructions on adapting toys to anyone! All proceeds from the workshops go directly towards purchasing the necessary materials to adapt the toys and donating them to children with disabilities. By adopting this approach, we eliminate any financial barriers for the children and their families, making inclusive play accessible to all.
Additionally, we are planning to offer families or disability services a toy library where they can subscribe and loan out our spare toys.
