The Ironing Maidens present a new show Hot & Heavy at Cairns Fest. This workshop program will deliver workshops in electronic music production and songwriting for local communities in August. Participants of the workshops will learn skills in singing and electronic music production using Ableton Live Software. Workshops are for participants aged 15 years and over.

This is an intro to electronic music workshop that gives participants an all round experience of writing a song, recording it and adding other instruments such as beats and bass. No previous experience necessary. No equipment required.

There are two workshop times offered in the schedule below. Each workshop will deliver the same content so choose the session that best suits your schedule.

About the Team:

Patty Preece graduated as Valedictorian from SAE Byron Bay after completing her Bachelor of Audio Production degree, went on to teach the Diploma of Sound Production course and now lecturers at CQU in music production. Patty is passionate about pushing the sonic envelope of music creation & experimentation. Her music career kicked off as a drummer and she has since been involved in many music projects both as a performer, engineer and producer. Patty is an Ableton Live Certified Trainer.

Melania Jack has 20 years education and industry experience in songwriting, music and performance and a Masters in Creative Industries. She has independently released two EPs and has toured nationally and internationally with this project as well as electronic acts Shiny Shiny and We Play Machines. She has a personal passion for music, songwriting, live performance, music film clips and social change and has worked on a number of community music projects such as Stylin Up Regional and Music Outback.
