Event description

Come down to the Murdoch Tavern for the second iteration of Hot Chips, Cold Takes!

Hot Chips, Cold Takes is an event series by the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Murdoch University and the WA Capitalism Studies Network.

We invite politics academics to talk about their research on today's top political issues for a general audience, before taking questions from the crowd.

This time, we have four experts on the theme of 'Violence, Money, and Power: Militarism, Capitalism, and the New Authoritarian Politics'. They will cover issues from the police-military nexus, to AUKUS, to whether we are living in a new Cold War. They are:

  • Prof. Shahar Hameiri, University of Queensland

  • Dr Jacqui Baker, Murdoch University

  • Dr Megan Price, University of Western Australia

  • Prof. Kanishka Jayasuriya, Murdoch University

We'll be there from 5:15 for a 5:45 start.

Come down, grab a drink and some chips, and ask those questions you've been dying to have answered on this important theme!
